Synopsis

The booklet "Solidarity Popular Economy and Well-Being in the Semiarid Region" aims to present basic concepts of the Solidarity Popular Economy, so that it can be used as a guide for developing the actions of women's groups in the management of solidarity enterprises.

It is an introduction to the theme of the Solidarity Popular Economy, written in accessible language and in a didactic format to contribute to the dissemination of the main ideas of the solidarity perspective, promoting reflection and the production of new knowledge.

This booklet presents the main principles of the Solidarity Popular Economy, as well as its foundations and importance. Furthermore, Solidarity Economy laws, councils, and forums are also announced. It also highlights the process of building and strengthening the Solidarity Popular Economy in Rio Grande do Norte and Seridó, in particular.

Author Biographies

Leandro Vieira Cavalcante, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN)

He holds a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in Geography from the State University of Ceará (UECE). He is a professor in the Department of Geography at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Caicó campus. He coordinates the Semi-Arid Territories Research and Extension Group (SEMIAR), which develops teaching, research, and extension initiatives with groups of peasant and quilombola women from the Seridó Potiguar region, in the areas of agroecology, solidarity economy, and coexistence with the semi-arid region.

Ozeane Araújo de Albuquerque da Silva, Cáritas Diocesana de Caicó

She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Social Work from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). She is a popular educator at the Diocesan Caritas of Caicó, coordinating and implementing social projects with women's groups in the areas of agroecology and solidarity economy.
