Peer Review Policy

Peer Review Policy

Editora SertãoCult adopts a peer review process for academic publications submitted for publication in order to ensure scientific quality, academic relevance, originality, and methodological consistency.

Academic manuscripts submitted to the publisher are initially evaluated by the editorial team, which verifies their alignment with the publisher’s scope, submission guidelines, open access policy, and formal publication standards. After this preliminary stage, manuscripts considered suitable are forwarded to external reviewers with recognized expertise in the relevant subject area.

The evaluation process for academic publications is preferably conducted under a double-blind review system, preserving the anonymity of authors and reviewers whenever possible. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two reviewers. In cases of conflicting recommendations, the publisher may request a third evaluation or submit the case to the Editorial Board for consideration.

Reviewers assess several aspects of the work, including its academic contribution, theoretical and methodological consistency, clarity of objectives, coherence of argumentation, relevance and currency of the bibliography, ethical adequacy of the research, and relevance to the corresponding field of knowledge.

After evaluation, manuscripts may receive one of the following recommendations: acceptance for publication; acceptance subject to revisions; resubmission for further evaluation; or rejection. Final editorial decisions are made by Editora SertãoCult based on the reviewers’ reports, editorial policies, and the suitability of the work for the academic catalog.

Literary, memorialistic, institutional, artistic, educational, or cultural dissemination works may follow a distinct editorial workflow and may not necessarily undergo academic peer review. Only peer-reviewed academic publications will be submitted to repositories, directories, and indexing services that require this criterion, including the Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB).

Editora SertãoCult is committed to editorial transparency, academic integrity, the prevention of conflicts of interest, and adherence to best practices in scholarly publishing.
