Synopsis

"Social History of the Sobral Railroad: Camocim-Sobral Branch Line (1877-1977)" is an irresistible invitation to a journey through time, far beyond the tracks. Organized by Carlos Augusto Pereira dos Santos, this monumental work unveils the century in which the Sobral Railroad was the vital engine of profound transformations in Northern Ceará. You will discover how the railroad propelled urban development, integrated the coast with the interior, and shaped the identity of cities like Camocim, Granja, and Sobral. Immerse yourself in narratives that reveal the social, cultural, and political dimensions of railroad life: from workers' struggles and strike movements to the nostalgia of the train's last whistle. This is a fundamental contribution to the history of Ceará, preserving, through a vast collection and testimonies, a living legacy that pulsates in the stations and in the memories of generations.
