Synopsis

In 2025, the Geographic Climatology Laboratory (CLIMAGEO) at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) celebrated its 10th anniversary. Thus, as a symbolic way of recording this milestone, we have organized this collection to share with society our joy of existing as a group that conducts research and university extension at a public university.

In the collection, the highlights are the recent research carried out by the laboratory members, graduates and current members of the Postgraduate Program in Geography (PPGG/UFPB), as well as chapters by collaborating professors from CLIMAGEO. These professors are affiliated with the following institutions: Regional University of Cariri (URCA), Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) and Postgraduate Program in Geography at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (PPGGeo/UFMS).

Gabriel de Paiva Cavalcante, Federal University of Paraíba

PhD candidate in Geography at the Federal University of Paraíba. Member of the Laboratory of Geographic Climatology (CLIMAGEO/UFPB), I dedicate myself to studies on Regional Climatology, Human Bioclimatology, Urban Climate, and Socio-environmental Risks and Disasters. Among the geographical tools, I seek to understand the relationship between the environment and humans, uniting science and sensitivity, also in the blog Geography of Paraíba. Currently, I am a geographer at the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability of Paraíba (SEMAS/PB), where research meets practice and Geography comes to life in public policies and landscapes.

Lucas Pereira Soares, Federal University of Paraíba

A geographer by training and vocation, I hold a PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). Among maps, clouds, and horizons, I dedicate myself to understanding the rhythms of the Earth and the dynamics that shape the climate and landscape. I work as a professor in the Geography Course at IFPA – Campus Abaetetuba, where I coordinate the Geoprocessing and Climate Studies Laboratory (LAGECLIM). In this space, science and landscape intertwine, revealing the subtle traces of climate and its influences on the Amazon. I am also part of the Geographic Climatology Laboratory (CLIMAGEO/UFPB), collaborating on research that combines technique and sensitivity in reading the atmosphere as a living part of Geography.
