Synopsis

This work presents a rigorous analysis of the trajectory of History teaching in Ceará, focusing on knowledge production, the evolution of the discipline, and curricular proposals. Organized by Ana Carla Sabino Fernandes, Ana Amélia Rodrigues de Oliveira, and Arilson dos Santos Gomes, the collection explores the role of the Professional Master's Program in History Teaching (ProfHistória) at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) as a space for teacher training and research.

The book is structured in four thematic sections: I. History Teaching in Ceará; II. History Teaching, Laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08; III. History Teaching, Local History and Heritage; and IV. History Teaching, the Digital Age and Teaching Practices. The articles aim to discuss and consolidate the relevance of history teaching from a critical and decolonial perspective, addressing issues such as the invisibility of Indigenous and Afro-descendant presences in the state, the impact of curricular reforms, and the use of non-traditional sources, such as literature, music, and sculptural heritage, in teaching practice. They are essential readings for academics, teachers, and professionals interested in deepening the methodological and epistemological debates surrounding history teaching in the context of the northeastern and at the national level.
